Working with Tillbourne

Tillbourne works with a small number of organisations as systems laboratories.

Each engagement is designed to answer a single question: what system are we actually running—and how is it shaping our outcomes?

Tillbourne begins with organisations—because they are accessible and measurable—but the underlying work applies to any complex human system.

System Diagnosis

A structured examination of how the organisation behaves in practice.

Focus:

  • decision flows, formal and real

  • information latency and distortion

  • incentive structures

  • feedback loops

Output:

  • a clear model of the system

  • identification of structural misalignments

  • a small number of high-leverage interventions

System Redesign

Working with leadership to change the system itself: decision rights, information architecture and feedback mechanisms.

This is not programme delivery. It is structural design.

System Instrumentation

Where appropriate, Tillbourne helps build simple mechanisms that allow the system to observe itself.

Examples:

  • visibility of decision latency

  • alignment between pipeline, resourcing and delivery

  • real-time signals rather than retrospective reporting

Even a crude instrument can change behaviour.

We help:

  • CEOs and leadership teams

  • PE-backed companies under growth pressure

  • organisations with persistent execution gaps

We don’t do:

  • conventional strategy projects

  • large-scale transformation delivery

  • work without access to real decisions and data

Tillbourne works best where there is access to the real system, not just its formal description.
